2.sinusitis(Nazla)

Sinusitis Known as Pinas in Ayurveda, sinusitis is a condition in which the sinuses are blocked with mucus and become inflamed. Sinusitis may attack people of any age and sex. Kids suffering from cold and other viral infections are prone to Sinusitis

Symptoms:
  • Sneezing
  • Heaviness in the head
  • Feeling of heaviness
  • Blocked or runny nose

Causes:

Indigestible and incompatible foods cause impairment of all three doshas.

Increased Kapha accumulates in the Sinuses leading to their narrowing and obstruction. This causes an obstruction in the flow of the air (vat) in the nostril to trachea causes difficulty in breathing. Impaired Pitta (Fire) causes swelling and irritation of the tissues of the sinuses. This happens because of increased intake of Vata, Pitta and Kapha aggravating foods, internal weakness of lung tissues, and various diseases Viral Infection like cold and flu, or pneumonia affecting the lungs. Causal factors include Exposure to substances such as pollen, dust, animal fur, sand, and bacteria, which triggers allergic reactions., Air Pollution, smoke, fumes from vehicles, perfumes etc are also responsible for sinusitis.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Fever, Diet & Lifestyle:
  • Take a steam treatment and Stay warm and drink hot herbal drinks.
  • Regular facemassage with warm sesame oil in closed area and hot towels over face helps to reduce head pain and loosen mucus helps to pacify Vata Dosha and softens the Kapha Dosha in the sinus.
  • Cover your nose and ear when you are in cold, smoky and polluted atmosphere.
  • Avoid sour and cold thing.
  • Heavy foods like dairy products, fried foods, pickles, cold foods, rice, beans and legumes should be avoided.
  • Avoid Exposure to substances such as pollen, dust, animal fur, sand, and bacteria, which triggers allergic reactions., Air Pollution, smoke, fumes from vehicles, perfumes etc.Stress and anxiety, Physical activity or exercise induced asthma.Weather, especially extreme changes in temperature
  • Sleep while lying on one side and with a pillow beneath the head. This prevents the accumulation of mucus in the air passages and helps to avoid difficulties in breathing.

Home Remedy:

Ayurvedic treatment for sinusitis is initially focused on improving the digestive system. Ayurvedic medicines are administered to clear the blockage from the channels by eliminating toxins ama from the body. They will then liquefy the Kapha present in the channels, allowing proper movement of Vata and fostering proper and easy respiration. Also immune-booster ayurvedic medicine combinations are given to the patient in order to provide both physical and psychological strength, as the patient becomes weak due to repeated attacks sneezing.

Boil 1 to 2 liters of water and add a few drops of shadbindu oil. Inhale the steam for 10-15 minutes or 3-6 drop shadbindu oil drop into both nostril before sun rise and after sun set,this process known as NASYA.Continue this twice a day until congestion clears and then once a week to clear the phlegm that gets deposited in the sinuses.

Mix 1 tsp swaras of crushed onion, one kali mirch and 500mg of turmeric powder dissolve in one glass of lukewarm water and take it at morning time empty stomach.
